Home Composting: There are many factors that can influence the process (like temperature, the time of year, and the location of your bio-bin, just to name a few). Finding the sweet spot where the microbes in your home compost pile can flourish is the key, as home compost heats vary significantly and this impacts the breakdown timing.
The capsule will certainly break down in landfill, so general waste to decompose is no problem in all councils. Green Bins can vary by council in regards to industrial composting facilities so it is best to contact your local council and find out more. The more people enquire, the quicker composting will be offered as part of your rates!
Commercial Composting: The capsules are EN13432 and AS 4736 certified. This means that after 12 weeks in an industrial composter, the capsule will disintegrate and pass through a 2×2mm mesh and after 6 months all that remains is CO2, water and minerals.
